GIANT FLYING BOAT

BRITISH COMPANY'S PLANS LONDON, February 9. The firm announced that'the plane, known as 545, will have a still air range of 5,000 miles. It is planned to fit the aircraft with six turbo-jet engines driving contrarotating airscrews and giving a cruising speed of over 300 miles an hour. It will probably operate at 35,000 feet, will weigh 250,0001 b, and carry a payload of about 24,0001 b. The internal layout will be constructed according to the airline operators' requirements, and the passenger capacity will be varied from 50 to 100 passengers. The 545 will carry a flying crew of eight, plus four stewards and two pursers.
