BROOD MARE SALE
TOP PRICE 1,700 GUINEAS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 25.. The annual sale of brood mares, stallions, horses in training, and untried stock, -held in conjunction with the national yearling sales,, was conducted at Trentnam to-day. A total,of 61 lots was sold for an aggregate of 12,875g5, an average of 211g5., The best price for a brood mare, 1,700g5, was brought by All Quiet with a filly foal at foot by Coronach, by Siegfried from Speechless. All Quiet is the dam of Western Front. She was purchased by Mr J. H. Jefferd, of Hastings. Other good prices for brood mares were 825 gs for My Ship, by IliadPrincess Argosy; 650 gs for Gay Paper, by Paper Money—Gay Robe; and 500 gs for an unnamed mare by Broiefort— Wyndale. Piccolo was passed in at 2*soogs, the reserve being 3,000g5. Grand Coulee was purchased by Mr, G. J. Barton, of Dunedin. for 550 gs. Australian buyers secured four lots, including the brood mare Injunction, by Solicitor-General, who was bought on behalf of Mr M. C. Moss, -of Sydney, for 320 gs.
