ITALY RESENTFUL
TERMS DICTATED BY RUSSIA A GRAVE INJUSTICE (Rec. 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 30. A feeling of deep mortification ,is general in Italy as the result of the Moscow discussions, says ‘ The Times ’ correspondent in Rome. Italy bitterly resents being placed on the same level as Hungary, Rumania, and Bulgaria. It is true that Cabinet issued a statement after its meeting on Saturday that it firmly expects that Italy’s standing as a co-belligerent will be given due consideration, but even such sober critics as Signor Bonomi speak of grave injustice done to Italy. The correspondent adds that unless the treaty terms compensate for the present setback, a dangerous twist will have been given Italian thought. People are saving already that only a Communist Government could sign peace terms obviously dictated by Russia. Some of the most serious observers fear that dissatisfaction is creating the spirit of aggrieved nationalism on which Mussolini founded Fascism.
