MONTEZUMA'S GOLD GUP
THIRD DAY AT WINGATUI TE ANAU LADY WINS WAIHOLA With, three wins to 'his credit _ for the meeting, the Christchurch-trained gelding, Western Front, was the most successful performer at the Dunedin Jockey Club’s Cup Meeting at Wingatui, which concluded on Saturday in showery weather. He won the principal event on Saturday, the Jockey Club Handicap, after getting several setbacks during the race. The racing maintained the high standard of the previous days, but the track was heavy after the persistent rain, and the times recorded were slow. The attendance was good. The totalisator handled £55,147 10s, compared with £34,490 10s, an increase of £20,657. For the three days investments totalled £147,515 10s, compared with £92,606 10s for two days last year. Into the straight Stagestruck was" in the lead from Faites vos Jeux, Lakhnau, Naughty Lady, -and Prana. Faites vos Jeux went on to win by three lengths from Stagestruck, who was two lengths ahead of. Naughty Lady. Lakhnau was a length back fourth, followed by Cipher, Prana, Winning Bat, and Royal Tan. Time, 1.5 2-5. Faites vos Jeux carried' £724, Stagestruck £1,887, and Naughty Lady £1.268. After five furlongs Wild Ribbon was still in charge from Ruling Moment, Te Anau Lady, Eudora, Desert Trek, and Thornbridge. Te Anau Lady led into the
straight and went on to win by a neck from Thornbridge. who was five lengths ahead of Fuzzy Wuzzy. Desert Trek was fourth, followed by Pink Clover. Time, 2.30.
