Crowds Flock to Courses

Tote Figures Mounting

Twenty-one days’ racing since December 22 have seen almost £1,346,000 pass through totalisators at the meetings of the 14 .clubs that have participated in the holiday racing carnival. Investments on the comparative preceding days (not all of which were in 1944) amounted to £1,066,465f', the actual increase being £279,474.

Attendances at Saturday’s meetings throughout New Zealand were large in every case, while four of the six clubs engaged enjoyed fine weather.

Totalisator comparisons show that two racing clubs experienced lower investment figures (Auckland and Dunedin) on one day, while the Auckland Trotting Club was down approximately £7,000 on its second day.
