CONTROL OF GERMANY

ZONE ADMINISTRATIONS RUSSIAN INDUSTRIAL EFFICIENCY (Rec. nono.) NEW YORK, December 27. The Germans seemed no worse and no better off in one zone than the other, said the * New York Times ’ Berlin correspondent, who toured the Russian zone. “In some respects the Russians have done a better job than the Americans, particularly regarding selfgovernment, but denazification has been carried out more rigorously in the United States area,” he said. “ Every farmer in the Russian zone is given a quota and any surplus can be sold on the free market. Eighty per cent, of Saxony’s factories are working, compared with 18 per cent, in the American zone.”
