NO EARLY TERMINATION

RATIONING IN AUSTRALIA SYDNEY, Dec. 26. Prospects of an early end to rationing in Australia are not bright, according to Senator A. Keane, the Minister of Customs, commenting on a Sydney newspaper report that rationing would be abolished early next year. Senator Keane said that all food items at present rationed would continue to be rationed until conditions justified the lifting of the restrictions. The matter had not been discussed by the Government.

Leading officials of the Rationing Commission in Sydney denied that the Federal Government intended to end food rationing early next year. “We have received no advice of any change from the Government. On the contrary, we have received instructions showing we are to carry on as usual,” said one officer.
