CHRISTMAS PAIRS POST-SECTION PLAY Play in the Dunedin Dowling Centre’s Christmas pairs tournament was again delayed by lain yesterday, and a start was not made until the afternoon. Most of the greens were sodden, and several short postponements were necessary because of showers. The Caledonian green was unfit for play, and the games set down for this green were transferred to St. Kilda. In spite of the weather, however, all the section winners bad l been found by the end of the day in readiness for post-section play to-day. The section winners were:— St Kilda No. 1 Green.—S. Devereux (Kaikorai). W. O. Clark (Kaikorai). St. Kilda No. 2 Green.—W. A. Baxter (Leith), L. J. Ireland (Kaituna). St. Clair Green.—J. Lambourne (Kaikorai), L. J. Edwards (Caledonian). Kaikorai Green.—A. Symonds (St. Clair), C. Maguire (Leith). Leith Green.—W. J. McLean (Tainui), W. Purdie (St. Clair). ■ Balmacewen Green. —W. Pennington (St. Kilda). J. W Thomas (Otago). North-east Valley Green.—.T. Hornal (Mornington), W. Wilson (North-east Valley). Mornington Green.—E. Longworth (St. Kilda), F. Scott (Taieri). PLAY TO-DAY. Post-section play commenced this mefrning at 11 o'clock on the St. Kilda green; which, though heavy, was in surprisingly good order after the rain of the past few days. The first round left eight pairs still in the competition, and the second round was started at 1.15 this afternoon, and the semi-finals were to commence at 3.15. Following are the scores in the first round this morning:— Ireland (Kaituna) 19, Lambourne (Kaikorai) 9 Thomas (Otago) 14, Pennington (Kaikorai) 9. Wilson (N.E.V.) won by default from Scott (Taieri). _ Edwards (Caledonian) 18, Devereux (Kaikorai) 16. Baxter (Leith) 25, Hornal (Mornington) 10. Purdie (St. Clair) 24, Longworth (St. Kilda) 10.
