SCRATCHING OF LOU ROSA

JUDICIAL COMMITTEE'S DECISION The scratching of Lou Rosa in the Auckland Cup was an incident at Ellerslie. The Judicial Committee met in the morning and decided on a veterinary surgeon’s report not to allow Lou Rosa to start. Although such a, decision has been made before at Ellerslie in minor races, it is believed to be without precedent in Auckland Cup history. Lou Rosa has seldom run a bad race, and his proved ability mid courage, together with his promising spring form, gave him moderate favouritism in the early discussions on the Auckland Cup, but his fall and bleeding while contesting the Hamilton Handicap at Te ißapa on December 8 placed him under a cloud.
