VEHICLE BARRICADE
FORD STRIKERS' ACTION GIGANTIC TRAFFIG JAM IN ONTARIO OTTAWA, November 5. To foil a possible police attempt to cross the picket line, strikers at the Ford plant at Windsor, Ontario, threw up a barricade of nearly 1,000 vehicles, causing an unprecedented traffic jam affecting districts miles in extent. The strikers directed passing vehicles into barricades until they included buses and trucks, also cars belonging to scores of business men intercepted while proceeding to work. The city fire chief expressed concern because the blockade closed all but two streets leading to Windsor's residential section. Tbe union's action followed the despatch of 250 provincial police and Royal Canadian Mounted Police to the scene after an unsuccessful attempt-by the city police on November 2 to enter the plant. The crowd outside the plant reached 15,000 by noon.
