STOWAWAY GIRL WANTED (Roc. 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 22. To inform her that her mother is dangerously ill, detectives want to trace the girl who was charged in Melbourne earlier this month with having stowed away <*n a vessel that arrived from New Zealand, but who was later discharged. The girl is Phyllis Gibson, but she may have been married recently, and may now be known as Phyllis Pereival. The girl’s mother is dangerously ill in Wellington Hospital. [Two Wellington girls, Phyllis Gibson, aged 19, and Marie Skipworth, aged 27, appeared in the City Court on October 10, charged with having stowed away on the liner Strathmore at Wellington The charges were dismissed. Two Australian soldiers gave evidence that they were on their way to Australia from England when they called at Wellington, where they met Misses Gibson and Skipworth. The men missed the ship on which they were to travel to Australia, and so were'booked on the Strathmore. They had a farewell'party on board, hut did not know till next morning that the girls had not disembarked. Miss Gibson said she went on board for a party in a cabin, whero she went to sleep and did not wake till next morning. Miss Skipworth said the New Zealand provosts said they could go on board as it was a passenger ship Detective Trim said the girls told him they were going to marry the two soldiers.]
