In two minutes 50 seconds, Alarcel Cerdan, described as Georges Carpentier’s successor, knocked out the Welsh middle-weight boxing champion, Tommy Davies. The Frenchman landed a series of well-placed lefts to the jaw, followed up with a terrific right, and Davies went down for the full count.
