FUTURE AIR TRAVEL

SERVICES TO lIUMY RESORTS

The progress of air travel has been marked during the last decade, and it is reasonable to expect that the forward move in air transport will now be rapid (says the annual report of the Otago Expansion League). With faster and more frequent through services from one end of the Dominion to the other, extensions to resorts such as Queenstown, Wanaka, and others should'not be long delayed. It must be recognised that Cook Strait acts as a barrier to tourist traffic generally, and anything that will lessen this geographical disadvantage should be readily accepted and appreciated. The aeroplane is undoubtedly the factor that reduces the handicap of time and distance, and the League suggests to the Tourist Development Committee that efforts should be concentrated in improving and extending aviation transport throughout the Dominion.
