LORD WAVELL RECEIVES AMERICAN HONOUR.—The Viceroy of India, Field-Marshal Lord Wavell, recently received the highest American decoration that can be conferred upon a non-American — the Legion of Merit, Degree of Commander. The honour was awarded by the President and was presented, in Delhi on. .his behalf by Lieutenant-general It. A. Wheller, Commander of United States Forces in the .lndia-Burma theatre. Lord Wavell is on the left of this picture receiving the insignia of the award.
