WOOL BOARD MEETS

73,000 BALES SHIPPED IN TWO MONTHS (PA.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 19. During the past two months there has been an increased movement in wool, a total of 73,000 bales having been shipped. This was reported at a meeting -of the New Zealand Wool Board held in Wellington this week. Information was received by the board that normal trading relations had been re-established with a number of foreign countries. It was decided to approach the various bodies concerned with a view to the setting up of a co-ordinating council to supervise and direct the research work to be carried out in the Dominion.

After a report from the delegates, who represented the board at a meeting to discuss the National Veterinary Services Committee's recommendations, had been tabled, the board decided that, while supporting the principle of an extension of the veterinary services, it did not feel '% was in a position to commit the wool industry to a levy for this puroose. The woolgrowers would be making substantial contribution as meat producers and > through the proposed extension in research work on animal husbandry. _ Advice was received that a meeting of the International Wool Secretariat Executive Committee would be held next year, possibly- in South Africa.. - •.-■-■'
