HUGE MINE-SWEEPING TASK
THOUSANDS TO BE LOCATED AND EXPLODED (Rec. noon.) PEARL HARBOUR, Oct. 19. More than 39,000 men operating 600 navy ships throughout the West Pacific, in one of history's greatest mine-sweep-ing operations, have the difficult job of locating and exploding -15,000 mines laid by Super-Fortresses along the cpasts of Japan, China, Korea, and Indo-China.
