The New Zealand Caulfield Cup candidates, Royal Flight and High Play, came through their’ final trials well. Royal Flight galloped a solid mile and 20yds and 22ft out on the course proper at Mentone in lmin 47fsec. High Play was given a rousing gallop over seven furlongs in company with Immediate.

The favourites for the cup are St. Fairy and Silver Link. These two, together with Rainbird and Huntingdale, are th® most popular choices.
