GANG PRESSURE

JEWS MASSING IN AUSTRIA TRUCULENT DEMANDS ON BRITISH LONDON, October 17. British intelligence officers in Vienna believe they are about to break wide open a highly-organised and interna-tionally-financed gang, whose object appears to be to push into Palestine as many European Jews as possible in the shortest possible time, says the ' Daily Mail's ' correspondent. The object seems to- be to present Britain with a fait accompli when the day of reckoning with her and with the Arabs comes.

Jews from Poland and Hungary for many weeks past have mysteriously been arriving in Vienna at the rate of 500 a week. They are truculently presenting _ themselves _ to the British authorities, demanding food, shelter, and a ticket for Palestine." The Russian and American authorities are not being worried in this way. The gang is advising Jews to make for the British zone and " demand their rights."

A senior British officer told) the correspondent that the British .authorities had been advised that the gang is controlling the movement to Vienna of 100.000 Jews who survived the Polish and Hungarian ghettos. " The British zone in Austria is already packed, and, of course, we "cannot send them on to Palestine!"
