SLEEPY FOX

SPELL INDICATED SYDNEY, October 17. Unless the owners wish for Sleepy Fox's return to New Zealand, he will be spelled and prepared for racing in Victoria next February. The races planned for him are the Newmarket Handicap, of six furlongs, and the Futurity Stakes, of seven furlongs. Each race carries iprize money of about £2,000 to the winner. Sleepy Fox has had a strenuous year, and his two recent Sydney races showed that he needed a spell. In spite of his recent lapse of form Sleepy Fox showed by winning two weight-for-age events, the Canterbury Stakes, of six furlongs, and the Chelmsford Stakes, of nine furlongs, that he is a top-class performer, and on his best form up to a mile very few Australian horses would be likely to beat him. The Newmarket and the Futurity would be ideal races for him.
