FROZEN CARGO IMPERILLED

I AUCKLAND WATERFRONT TROUBLE DEADLOCK REACHED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 17. A deadlock has been reached in the waterfront dispute over the dismissal of a man from the Glen Line vessel Denbighshire early last week, and the "go slow'' policy adopted by the waterside workers on every ship in the crowded port continues. The Waterfront Control Commission issued an order this morning placing all the men, unionists and non-unionists, whether working on ships under contract or not, under the system of being.paid only in accordance with the amount of work performed. None or the 134 men who have been going slow on the Denbighshire since early last weok will receive as much as £1 for the week when they are paid to-morrow. Most of them will be paid considerably less, and the gang which refused to work until its dismissed member was reinstated will receive nothing. The remainder of the waterside workers on other ships will not be affected until next Thursday. The hatches were closed to-day on the United States War Shipping Administration's vessel Platona, as it was shown that the frozen cargo being loaded might be damaged by the slow rate of work. The refrigerated holds of the Port Chalmers will be closed to-morrow.
