VICTORY OF WORLD'S FREE PEOPLES
INSURANCE COMPANY'S PEACE DIVIDEND
“We have seen Britain and her Empire emerge victorious from a world war on two occasions within our generation, and let Us pray that it shall not happen again,” said Mr W. S. Dawson, chairman of the Dunedin Stock Exchange, at the conclusion of this morning’s call. “We can thank all the free peoples, of the world as well as our service personnel and the scientists for this delivery from our enemies.”
A transaction on ’Change in 100 Bank of New Zealands at 60s 6d was the only business effected, and the vendor and buyer were officially congratulated by other members on making the last war-time transaction. The 'action of the New Zealiand Insurance Company Ltd. in preparing to pay a bonus dividend to commemorate the declaration of peace was commehded by the chairman, who expressed the hope that other wealthy companies who had husbanded their resburtes would follow this example.
