NEW MENTAL HOSPITAL

SITE BEING ACQUIRED INSTITUTION OF VILLA TYPE A site has been selected for the new mental hospital which is to replace the institution at Seacliff, and steps are now being taken to acquire the land, according to a statement made in Dunedin this morning by the Minister of Health (the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer). The new hospital will be in the Cherry Farm district, near Karitane. The site is sunny and well sheltered, and is easier of access to Dunedin than the existing site. The Minister said plans for the new hospital were well advanced. The institution would be of.the villa type, with a number of separate buildings suitably spread over the area occupied. The planfi would call for modern construction and the most suitable design for such an institution, incorporating modern developments.
