WAR ORPHANS.

TO THE EDITOB. Sir, —Your reply to my letter re war orphans is inclined to convey a wrong impression to most people. You state: " A war orphan may receive a pension of 20s a week." But this applies only where the orphan is living with guardians. In the case of the orphan resident with the mother 10s a week is the amount received, wh.ich is 5s a week less than that allotted to the child supported by the State. The reason for this illogicality is difficult to see, unless the legislators imply that the child living with the mother is in less need of help from the State—a bouquet to the mother, but manifestly absurd.—l am, etc.. Wondering. April 30.
