CAMBRIDGE BURSARY
AWARD TO AIRMAN (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 17. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, has approved of the award of a bursary tenable for two years at King's College, Cambridge, to Flight-lieutenant D. H. Tudhope, D.F.C. and bar, of Hamilton. The bursary is worth £IOO a year. Some time .ago the - New Zealand War Cabinet decided that five bursaries offered by the authorities of King's College should be available to Army, Navy, and air disabled personnel. The 'Minister later ruled that personnel unaffected by war injuries should also be eligible. Ordinary service pay and allowances are to be drawn by the bursary holders. Flight-lieutenant Tudhope was awarded the D.F.C. in June, 1944, and received the bar last February. The citation to his latest award states that he completed many more operational sorties after the award of the D.F.C. His targets included Berlin. " Throughout his unflagging enthusiasm, efficiency, and exemplary courage in the face of enemy opposition proved a high example to all," the citation adds.
Flight-lieutenant Tudhope was recommended for the bursary by the High Commissioner in London, Mr Jordan, and R.N.Z.A.F. headquarters. His father is Mr W. Tudhope, Rostrcvor street, Hamilton.
