WATERFRONT DISPUTE

SETTLEMENT REPORTED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, March 1. An amicable arrangement with respect to the dispute which caused work to cease on the Union Steam Ship. Company's Karepo: was announced 'this morning by the waterfront controller, Mr W. J. Cuthbert. A conference, attended by representatives of the Waterfront Commission, the Labour Department, and the Waterside Workers' Union was held yesterday, and it was decided to refer the matter in dispute to the local Disputes Committee,' and that in the meantime the men return to work. At a meeting of the union this morning it was decided that work be resumed.
