Dr Roland Fulton returned to ,Dunedin yesterday from a holidday spent at Lake Hawea. ■ Cr (R. G. Brown, a member of the Christchurch City Council, was present at the meeting last night of the City Council, -and conveyed to the Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron) and councillors greetings Ifrom the Christchurch body.
The chairman of.the City Council's Transport Committee (Cr J. McCrae) and the acting manager' of the transport department (Mr W. D. Richards) were appointed by the council at -its meeting last night to attend the annual conference of the Public Passenger Transport Association of New Zealand to be held at Wanganui next month. The appointment of Mr Charles D. F. Bowie as plumbing inspector in the drainage engineer's office was confirmed by the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board at its monthly meeting last evening. Mr Bowis has recently returned after four years' military service in the Middle East. Mr A. H. Brown was appointed caretaker of the Deep Croek water supply system at the meeting last night of the Cit.v Council. Mr Brown, a reutrned serviceman of this war, is a registered plumber. The new Governor oif Fiji, and High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Mr A. W. G. H. Grantham, C.M.G., M.A. (Cantab.), accompanied by, Mrs Grantham, arrived in Suva by air on December .31 to take up his new post, and was sworn in by the Chief Justice, Sir Owen Corrie, the following day.
