United States Eighth Air Force reveals that Flying Fortresses and Liberators in October dropped about 40,000 tons of high explosives and incendiaries on German targets. Thi6 is the largest tonnage for any month, Eighth Air Force bombers new 18,800 sorties, and fighters flew 13,150 Operational losses for the Eighth Air Force for October were 258 bombers and 126 fighters.
