EIGHT BREACHES IN DYKE

(Rec. noon.) RUGBY, October 8. Reconnaissance photographs taken after R.A.F. attack show that there are eight separate breaches in the dyke which kept out the sea from the south part of the island of Walcheren. The breaches are on either side of Flushing, both east and west. By 5 p.m. on Saturday sea water had reached half a mile inland, and had surrounded a large fort in German hands.
