KNOX CHURCH
ASSOCIATE MINISTER APPOINTED REV. OWEN T. BARAGWANATH The Rev. Owen T. Baragwanath, 8.A., has been appointed associate minister at Knox Church, Dunediri. Gaining his arts degree at Auckland University College and completing his course at the Theological Hall in Dunedin, Mr Baragwanath had a year of postgraduate study at New College, Edinburgh, during which he was one of the assistant ministers at St. Giles Cathedral. • - ■ On his return to New Zealand Mr Baragwanath was for two years minister of the Balclutha charge. There he was particularly successful in organising the youth activities of the church. Possessing a fine voice, he was one of the leaders of the community sing Tn 1941 he
was appointed an Army chaplain, and for the past two years was with the Third New Zealand Division in tho Pacific, where he was the senior Presbyterian chaplain, with the rank of major. Mr Baragwanath's personality and qualifications make him particularly suitable for the work he will undertake in this important city church, where he will co-operate with the minister, the Right Rev. D. C. Herron, M.C., M.A.* Mrs Baragwanath is a daughter of Mr «nd Mrs W. D. Richards, of Gamma street, Roslyn. Mr "Baragwanath is the great-grand-son of the Rev. McKenzie Fraser, the first ordained minister of St. David's Church, Auckland, from which Mr Herron came Ho Knox Church.. While a student Baragwanath was a keen footballer, playing for Otago University B and representing Edinburgh University while in Scotland.
