RUM SALE AT £126 A PINT

Mr A. Levitta, London wine merchant, became the fifth owner of a pint bottle, of Jamaica rum winch, if it is not drunk in the next seven months, will be 200 years old. . He bought it at a sale of wines held at Christie's for the Duke of Gloucester's died Cross and St. John fund. He paid 120 gs for it. Since General Kingston, GovernorGeneral of the West Indies, brought the rum to England in 1805 it has been opened only twice, for recorking and resealing, in 1837 and 1844. It is now the oldest rum in Europe, probably in the world. The total for the day was £11,250.
