The revelation that 1,200 people,were killed and 70,000 houses were daniaged pr destroyed- during the ,1940 attacks against Coventry was made by the Home Secretary (Mr Herbert Morrison), addressing civil defence' , wardens at Coventry. -The city was attacked more than 40 times, including three attacks in great force, but the enemy failed to kuock Coventry out as he had--hoped.
