" JAP. TANKER BOMBED. SYDNEY, July 'l2.—A 10,000-ton Japanese tanker which was attacked by General MacArthur's bombers at Morotal Island, in the Halmahera area, was left dead in the water following damaging near misses. Two small vessels bombed near Boela were forced' to beach. In attacks on the lines of communication of the beleaguered Japanese forces in British New Guinea, six barges were destroyed or damaged. Five of 20 intercepting fighters which attempted to drive off Liberators raiding Yap were shot down.
