PETROL FROM COUPONS
PURCHASER'S SIGNATURE REQUIRED NO COUNTERFEIT ISSUE IN .DUNEDIN The necessity for purchasers of petrol to affix their signatures to coupons because of the circulation of forged coupons, has led to many inquiries being received from motorists in Dunedin 'by the Automobile Association as to the procedure to be followed in the case of a group of , motorists pooling their coupons. Though there have been no cases reported of forged coupons being circulated in Dunedin, the stipulation requiring the obtaining of a signature and also the registered number of the car in which the petrol is placed Is in general force throughout the Dominion at present. In the case of friends pooling their coupons, this can still be done, except that the owner of the car using th<* petrol has to sign his name on all th<* coupons as he cashes them, and also include the plate registration number o* the vehicle. The Oil Fuel Controller in Wellington has given an assuranco that arrangements made with regard to the July petrol coupon will not be upset because of the circulation of the counterfeit coupons, and that petrol will still be available to motorists.
