COLONEL MAXWELL APPOINTED COMMANDANT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 11. The appointment of Colonel D. T. Maxwell, N.Z.S.C, as Commandant of the Army School of Instruction at Treiltham, is announced in the Gazette. Colonel Maxwell graduated at the Royal Military College, Duntroon, in 1920. In 1926 ,he was attached! to a battalion of the Durham Light. Infantry for two years, during which he saw service in India and China. In 1936 lie graduated at the Staff College, Camberley, and was attached to duty at the War Office before his return to New Zealand in 1937, Colonel Maxwell* went overseas with the First Echelon, and later was appointed Assistant Adjutant and QUar-termaster-General to the New Zealand Division. He was recalled for duty in New Zealand in June, 1942, and held various senior staff appointments. In August, 1943, he was appointed Commandant of the New Zealand Staff College, which closed down in March of this year. Colonel Maxwell left the staff college to be sent on a liaison visit to Australia, New Guinea, and' the Third New Zealand Division.
