WARTIME SYDNEY
MRS HAMER'S IMPRESSIONS Impressions of a war-time visit to Sydney were given by Mrs John Hamer at a meeting of the Travel .Club, held in the Savoy this morning. The people of Sydney, she said, lead a quiet life now, the women who are busy with war work during the day staying at home to listen to the radio at night. The programmes are interesting and entertaining, especially the quiz sessions and competitions of all sorts. Australian radio plays, which are very popular, are well written and produced, while the music sessions; with excellent critical commentaries, are well worth listening to. Mrs Hamer broadcast two songs and an interview from one of the big studios in a special " 50 and oyer '' session. Guests welcomed by Mrs Douglas Barton were Mrs G.. Williamson, Mrs H. S. Atkinson, Mrs F. M. Williams, Miss Cook .(Christchurch), Mrs E. B Patrick (Riverton), and Sister Mary Wilson (Tonga).
