CASSINO EVACUATED

ALLIED PATROLS ENTER TOWN LONDON, January 26. The Germans have evacuated Cassino. Allied patrols entered this strategically-important village and found nobody there except one German soldier. However, the surrounding hills are still held in force.

North-east of Cassino United States and French forces have made valuable gains.
