SYDNEY, Jan. 26.—A communique from South-west Pacific headquarters records successes in ground fighting. 'ln the Ramu Valley the Japanese have now been completely driven from their strong defensive positions on the Eankiryo saddle, (hi the northern coast of the Huon Peninsula other Australians have killed a further 23 enemy stragglers. Across Vitiaz Strait the Americans at Cape Gloucester, Western New Britain, have killed a further 40 Japanese in patrol actions and captured additional supplies and equipment.
