RICCARTON GALLOPS

NIGHT LANCER GOES WELL (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 2. It was impossible to time the majority of the earlier gallops at Riccarton this morning owing to the heavy ground fog. Some fast times were recorded, both the course proper and the plough providing fast footing. The plough was most in use.

Tavern Light and Rink were the.first horses timed on the course proper, running a mile in 1.44, the final half in 52 3-5.

Indian Sign Ibeat Botany over seven furlongs in 1.31, the pair running the first three furlongs in 39sec. Te Kawiti pleased by leading Don Quex and Gladynev throughout a mile in 1.43 3-5, the final half taking 52 2-5. Gladynev tailed off until the final stages, when he moved up, finishing with Don Quex, the stablernates being half a length behind Te Kawiti. Macesoine was always galloping easily to finish half a length in front of Gay Parade and Edward after running a mile in 1.44 4-5, the last half taking 53 1-5. Cheap Lodging went over the sariie ground m 1.43 2-5, coming home in 52 2-5.

Dash 0' Dink and Hurry Home were together at the end of five furlongs in the smart time of 1.2 3-5, the first in 12 3-5. Chellow Dene, with Lord Roland as mate for part of the way, ran the first three furlongs in 36 3-5, and completed. seven furlongs in 1.32 1-5 Lalla Meer ran away from Debater over half a mile in 50 3-5, while Ever Ready was well clear of Joygiver m 51 2-5. • Invincible shaded Gayfort at the end of six furlongs in 1.16 2-5, the final four being done in 51 2-5. Night Lancer recorded easily the best five furlongs of the morning, doing the first in 12 2-5 and the full distance eOsec. Riding Home and First In also worked attractively, doing six furlongs in 1.15, the last four in 50 1-5. The rest of the gallops were on the plough. Kindergarten, after running the first two furlongs in 26; 2-5, got to the end of seven in 1.30 1-5. . Lord Advocate and St. Cloud sprinted six furlongs in 1.15 4-5, but their sectional times could not ibe taken. Miss Clorane and Royal Flight took 1.19 2-5 for a similar trial. . Burberry covered six furlongs in t.lie good time of 1.15 3-5, the first two in 23 4-5 and three in 35 4-5. Good Scout, with Langue d Or as mate for the last six furlongs, ran seven in 1.30, the first four taking 51 2-5. Langue d'Or did not succeed in joining Good Scout until the last two furlongs and he then came on to finish half a length in front. Poutatau and' Sir Bradbury were galloping nicely at the end of five furlongs in 1.2 2-5, the first in 13. In Chancery led Foxhaven for the first three of six furlongs, but Foxhaven then worked to the front, fanishintr half a length in front. The first three furlongs took 38 and the full distance 1.16 2-5. ; . ■ Golden Acre and Rawhamai also recorded 1.16 2-5, their first three taking 38 1-s'. Scottish Dale went over the same around in 1.15, the first two, furlongs fn 24 2-5. • The Monarch and Voltaire kept together while running six furlongs in T. 17 2-5, the first two taking 25 4-5 and three 39 2-5. Foxcatcher hit out freely over seven furlongs in 1.30 1-5, the first four in 51 4-5. Sham Boy ran home from the halfmile in 50 "l -5, Owaka- taking 52'4-5, iwhile Saldowa finished :the last: three furlongs of seven in 41 2-5. Dietetic ran three furlongs in 38 3-5. • Silver Sox was too good for Standiby at the finish of seven furlongs, the opening three taking 1.39 3-5. Tutere was being eased up, and even then shaded Banco over the same ground in, 1.17, the pair doing the first three furlongs in 37 2-5. . Palfrey and Gustitia completed a mile in 1.44 2-5, coming home nicely over the final half in 50 2-5.
