EDEN ELECTORATE
FINAL FIGURES ESTABLISH LABOUR MAJORITY OF 14 VOTES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. The election of Mr W. T. Anderton, the Labour candidate, for the Eden seat by a majority of 14 votes over Mr W. H. Fortune, the Nationalist candidate, is established by the final figures, announced by the chief electoral officer, Mr L. Irwin. Details of the voting are as follows:

Anderson ... 6.494 772 7,266 Fortune ... 6,766 486 7,252 When the results of the preliminary count were announced on election night Mr Anderton, who was a member of the previous Parliament, had a lead of 95 votes, but the official count reversed the positions of the candidates, giving Mr Fortune a majority of 12, and thereafter t'.ie issue changed as the service votes came in.
