CENTURIES TO McGREGOR AND TQOMEY OLD BOYS INCREASE LEAD The local senior cricket games on Saturday were notable for' two centuries, G. McGregor making 118 not out for Kaikorai against North-east Valley, and O. Toomey scoring 103 not out tor University against Dunedin. McGregor added to the merit of his batting performauco by taking six wickets for 11 runs. Other good individual totals during the afternoon were those of O. Everson (AibionY.M.C.A.) 86 and G. M. Mills (Old Boys) 82. In bowling L. J. Groves (Old Boys) gave another creditable performance by taking eight Air Force wickets for 60 runs.

AVins were scored by Old Boys, Albion-Y.M.C.A., University, Kaikorai, and Grange. The competition points arc:—Old Boys 26, Air Force 20, Albion-Y.M.C.A. 20, Carisbrook A 15, University 15, Kaikorai 15, Grange 10, Carisbrook B 10, Dunedin 0, Northeast Valley 0. A Comfortable Win.

Playing against Air Force on Oval No. 7 ground, Old Boys had an easy win. Air Force were all out for 137, while Old Boys scored 212 for the loss of only live wickets. The top scorers for Air Force were H. Miller 37, V. McCarten 28, and E. Wilson 21. For Old Boys, G. M. Mills hit out freely to score an excellent 82, including 13 4's. L. Giles carried his bat for 45, a score which included six 4's. L. J. Groves (27) and J. t W. Walls (21)—the lastnamed hitting four 4's in a brief but vigorous innings—also batted well. Groves, with eight wickets for 60 runs, was the most successful bowler for Old Boys, the best Air Force bowler being W. Thomas, who took two wickets for 35 runs.

Toomey's Century. The feature of the University-Caris-brook B match was the bright batting of C. D. Toomey, who scored 103 not out. The University side did not begin too well., but Toomey and Hockin made a partnership that added 66 for the fourth wicket before t the latter was bowled. Toomey's score included 15 4's and two 6's. University compiled 185 for five wickets in the time allowed, the most successful Carisbrook bowler being L. Milnes, with five wickets for 52. Carisbrook's innings was, started well with a good 43 by Milnes, and hard hitting by O. T. Gorrie, who scored 43, took the side within 5 runs of the University total. (R. Harwood made 26, and extras accounted for 32. .Toomey (two for 14) and Hockin (three for 38) were the most successful University bowlers. Win for Albion-Y.M.C.A^

In the match between AlbionY.M.C.A. and Carisbrook A, played at Carisbrook, Carisbrook batted first and made 147, the most successful batsmen being A. W. McDougall 34, J. Cameron 30, and A. Fluery 30. P. Miller took four for 14, Everson and Watson opened well for the partnership putting on 116 before Watson was dismissed for 49. Everson went on to 86, his score including 12 4's. The innings closed for 237 (Gould ■39, L. Watson 22, and Carter 21). For Carisbrook Fraser look one for 20 and McDougall one for 23.

Kaikorai's Good Win. G. McGregor, with 118 not out —a score; that included 12 4's and three 6's—Avas the most successful batsman in the .game between... Kajkorai and North-east ■'Valley," "played at Bishopscourt. Kaikorai closed the innings at 232 for eight wickets, ln the secondwicket partnership McGregor and L. Stewart contributed 86" before the latter was dismissed at 49. McGregor and Irvine made another profitable partnership which brought 30 runs in one over. Bowling for North-east Valley, A. ißiach took four for 52. North-east Valley replied with 69, the side being dismissed in a little over an hour. F. W. Bellamy, with 19, was the highest scorer. McGregor took six for 11 and E. Rennick four for 35. North-east Valley followed.on, and had scored 52 for four wickets when stumps were drawn. Rennick took two for 15, and Stewart one for 4. Grange Defeats Dunedin.

Dunedin, batting first against Grange at Tonga Park, made 160 for eight wickets in the allotted time, the top scorers being J. Young 32, D. Qua id 31, and V. Donnelly 21. A. Knight (three for 16) and C. Elmes (four for 44) shared the wickets for Grange. Scoring at a brisk rate, Grange passed Dunedin's total with three wickets in hand, and went on to make 191 for the loss of eight wickets before stumps were drawn. A. Knight who was dropped in the slips before he had reached double figures, made 64, including 10 4's, and F. Powell consolidated the position with an attractively made 45. He hit four 4's and two 6's. The . Dunedin bowlers were not dangerous, and the most successful were J. Young (three for 48) and V. Donnelly (two for 33). LOWER GRADES. Intermediate Grade.—Carisbrook 198 (Hanlin 56, Smith 36, Bell 33, Callon 17; Jones two for 15, H. McCormiek three for 45, T. McConmick two for 26, Henderson two for 42) defeated Ack Ack 101 and nine for 137 (Henderson 28, Brown 22; Spackman six for 47, Procter two for 3, McGregor two for 44; Henderson 31, Jones 43; Procter three for 23, Bell, three for 35, Spackman two for 23). Second Grade A.—Albion-Y.M.C.A. 150 (Keen 51, Rankin 28; Schmeitz 'five for 41, Hood three for 35) defeated North-east Valley 52 and three for 39 (Wright seven for 27; Keen three for 19, Johnston two for 11, D. Miller one for 5).

Carisbrook 200 (Collins 56, Rayner 33, French 20; Dawson two for 4, Young two for 18) defeated Dunedin 53 (Lennox 26; McLaren eight for 26, French two for 18). Second Grade B— A.T.C. A 132 (Faull 32, Hunter 29, Chirnside 28; Sparrow three for 19, Bostrick three for 23, and Lauder three for 25). A.T.C. B 54 (Butler 27, Lauder 24; Jones five for 6, including the " hat trick," Graham three for 37). Second innings: 71 (Sparrow 22. Smithern 18; Jones seven for 23). CRICKET LEAGUE.
