On Saturday evening the St. Andrew Society of Otago held its monthly social. The president and the guest of the evening, Mr Brown of the Scottish Society, were piped in by Mr J. McVcau. In his opening remarks the president welcomed all present, with a special welcome to all visitors. Several intimations were given out, including one. from a kindred society in regard! to its Hallowe'en celebrations. During the evening items were given as follows: —Miss Russell sang 'Caller 'Ou ' and 'Tarn Glen.' Mrs Dagger recited ' Thumbs up for Scotland,' Mr J. Jeffrey gave two Scottish selections on the accordion, arid the St. Andrew Players gave a short sketch entitled ' Our Mollv.' those taking part being Miss D. McEwan who took the part of Granny; Miss H. Tyrrell (Martha a visitor" to Granny), and Miss M. Tyrrell (Molly). These items were all enjoyed by the audieuce. who showed their appreciation in the usual manner. Supper was served by the ladies of the committee. The rest of the evening was spent in dancing. The singing of""' Auld Lang Syne ' brought a very enjoyable evening to a close.
