ALLIES AGAIN BLAST RABAUL

LONDON, October 26

Japanese air strategy in the South-west Pacific suffered another serious setback over the week-end as a result of heavy attacks on Rabaul by Allied aircraft. The Japanese lost 123 more planes in two raids. Three hundred Liberators and Mitchells'were engaged in the attacks which were launched at a time when the enemy was trying to build up his air strength at Rabaul. In addition to blasting the three airfields, the raiders also attacked enemy shipping in the harbour. One destroyer and five coastal vessels wire sunk.
