EARLY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago'Early Settlers' Association, was, held yesterday afternoon, Mr J. W. Patton presiding. It was resolved that Mr F. W. Knight be appointed to the vacancy on the committee caused by the death of Mr Andrew Selby. Gifts were received from the following, and votes of thanks were passed to the donors:—Mr H. C. King, Mr G. C. Thomson, Mr I. A. Wood, Mr H. J. Duncan, and Mr T. M. B. Muir. The deaths of the following early settlers were recorded during the month: —Mrs M. W Marrvatt, Milton (Omeo, 1863), aged 87; Miss "M. W. Alves (1868), aged 87; Mr John Coombs (Clutha), aged 93; and Mrs Margaret Auld (George Canning, 1857), aged 99. Mr S. W. Jones was elected a life member, and 14 ordinary members were enrolled.
