MEETING OF EXECUTIVE At the recent meeting of the OtagoSouthland Methodist District Executive it was reported that Dunedin is to be visited hi August by the Rev. John F. Goldie, the pioneer Christian missionary in the Western Solomon Islands. Mr Goldie first landed there in 1902, and until recently was established at Munda, on the island of New Georgia. The district secretary for overseas missions gave details of arrangements that are being made for the holding of a public meeting in the Concert Chamber on Tuesday, August 24, when Mr Goldie would be the speaker. On the previous Sunday Mr Goldie is to conduct services in local churches.
Preliminary arrangements were made for the holding of the annual Dominion conference of the Methodist Church in Dunedin in February oF next year, and sub-com-mittees were set up to make the necessary arrangements. In connection with the campaign for Christian order, the meeting of study groups in several suburbs was reported and the development of further groups was advocated. The support, of the churches was pledged to the religion and life week to bo held in Dunedin early in October.
