BIRTH RATE IN ENGLAND AHD WALES (Rec. 8.15 a.m.) RUGBY, July 12. More births were registered in England and Wales in the first three months of 1943 than in an.y quarter for 17 years. The total was 171.819, which represents a birth rate of 16.8 per 1.000 of the population, the highest first quarter rate since 1928.
