DELAYED PARACHUTE FALL

UHCOMSCIOUS AIRMAN'S EXPERIENCE NEW DELHI, July 9. Warrant-officer P. D. C. Brown, R.A.F., of Canterbury, fell frbm a plane unconscious for a distance of 20,0.00 ft over the Burma front, unwittingly made a record delayed drop. Warrant-officer Brown said: "My pUne got into a violent storm, with lightning playiug around. Conditions werfi pretty bumpy, and the plane sud-. denly got into a spin. Although I applied ' correction ' the spin got worse, and I wak thrown on to the controls, hitting my head. I lost consciousness, and the nest thing I knew I was falling through thick clouds. Suddenly [ saw the ground 3,000 ft below, and managed to open my parachute!" On the ground Bengalis feted War-rant-officer Brown as some strange aerial visitor. He received melons, bananas, rice, and tea, and the' Bengalis tended him until next day, when e made a- 24-hour journey by bullock cart and sampan to hospital.
