THREE GANGS OF WATERSIOERS DISMISSED (P.A.) . AUCKLAND. April IS. Three gangs of waterside workers loading genera! cargo on a coastal vessel -were dismissed by the Waterfront Control Commission wharf superintendent this morning, when they alleged that it' was raining too hard to continue working. About 50 men were involved and as they were not replaced no work was done in one hold during the rest of the day.. Six other gangs on the ship continued to work. Mr W J. Cuthbert, the acting waterfront controller, said the only time it was necessary to stop work on the waterfront during the day shift to-day was for three minutes. An official, of the shipping company said there wa.s no rain to warrant a stoppage. A sling of cargo which was hanging while the men stopped did not get wet.
