SWIMMING
PRIMARY SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS Five records were broken at the Ota go primary' schools' swimming championships, Avhich were commenced yesterday at the Municipal Baths. Sessions were held in the morning and in the evening, but, with the exception of the diving, heats only of the various events were held. The racing marked the appearance in. competition of some very promising swimmers. Among them were E. Marslin (Dunedin North Intermediate B), who lowered her own record of 25 3-ssec for 33 1-3 Yards Back Stroke, girls under 14, by one-fifth of a second; M. Wilson (Green Island), who clipped four-fifths of a second off the 25 Yards Free Style record of 18 4-ssec, for girls under 11; J. Longbottom (High Street), who broke the record of lOsec for 14 Yards, girls under 10, by two-fifths of a second; and J. Marshall (Dunedin North Intermediate A) and G. Allen (Wakari), each of whom lowered the record of 26 l-ssec for 33 .1-3 Yards, girls under 12. The Dunedin (North Intermediate B 1 team reduced the 133 1-3 Yards Mixed Relay (tinder 14) record of lmin 38 l-ssec iby two-fifths of a second. Demonstrations of swimming and diving were given l>y a nuinber of local champions. The finals will he decided to-night. The 'following were the results of the diving: Boys, under 12—S.
