—Air Passengers.— Passengers from the north yesterday afternoon were Mrs J. Donnelly, Mr ana Mrs J. Knignc (from Auckland), Mr 1. Cunningham, Mr and Mrs Hunter (from-Wellington), Mr Roy Culleu (from Christchurch). Passengers by the north-bound air w liner to-day were Mr A. d. Smith, Mr .). Grant, Air J. Manson Stewart, Miss M. Harmsworth (for Christchurch), Mr R. H. Gardner, Aliss Carlson Smith,. Mrs H. Hood, Airs DudleyLawn and two infants (ior Wellington), Aliss E. Wycherley, and Airs A. Cranwell (for Auckland). Mr G. Z. Lindley went north by the second express this morning en route to Wellington. Archbishop O'Shea and Alonsigner McManus were passengers for the north by the second express 'this morning, the former bound for Wellington and the latter for Palmerston North. Air L: M. Wright has been appointed to represent the combined districts of St. Kilda and the city on the Ocean Beach Domain Board. Mr M. Silverstone and Mr F. Wilkinson have been reappointed as the representatives of the city area and the surburban area respectively on the board. The (Rev. I. G. Borrie, who has accepted a call to Highfield Church, Timaru, .was entertained by the congregation of the St.. Clair _ Presbyterian Church and presented with, a cheque as a'token of the esteem'in which he is held. At previous functions Mr and Airs Bdrrio and their children were the recipients of gifts from the Sunday school and the missionary organisations of the church. A presentation was also made by the choir to Mr Rankin Harper (acting choir master) on the eve of his wedding. Mr W. G. Smith, at present employed by the corporation's transport department, was last night appointed by the City Council to the position of Mayor's orderly and messenger for the ■ town clerk's department. In November last. Captain Wallace E. Ruff, of the Indian Army, had the misfortune to lose his right hand as a result of the explosion of a charge which he was handling in the course of training operations. His - many friends will be pleased to learn that ; he has made a good recovery from the effects of the amputation, and that he has recently been appointed training adjutant at'Nowshera, India. Captain Ruff is the son of Air A. E. Ruff, of Alexandra. Before talking up military duties he was chief clerk of the Yorkshire Insurance Company Ltd., Dunedin. He will be well remembered as a representative Rugby footballer. He played full-back for Otago in 1933 and 1938, and for Southland during the intervening years. He also occupied the position of full-back for the University and Kaikorai Clubs. Staying at the City Hotel are Mr W. Haddrell, Air P. B. Phillips (Auckland), Air R. Bullen (Christchurch), Mr and Airs M. J. Gray. Mr W. J. Watkins (Timaru), Air and.Mrs' W. Rogers (Milburn); Mrs. A. W. Paterson, Air J. Buchanan (Gore). Mr J. Price, Mr and Mrs G. Matheson, Mrs Weir (Invercargill). Guests at Wain's Hotel include Miss D. Mackay, Miss H. Alackay (Newstead). Air A. P. Thompson (Palmerston North), Mr A. H. Lawson (New Plymouth), Mr J; Stace/ (Wellington), Mr H. P. Gibson,'Air J. S. Lindsay, Mr C. MeConhell (Christchurch), Mr L. Calder (Ashbirrton),' Mr and Airs A. W. Grant (Fairlie). Mr G. Miller (Timaru). Airs H. G. Wallace (Gore). On the guest list at the Excelsior Hotel are Air and Mrs Pi Peters' (Napier), Air J. W. Franklin (W Taipukurau). Airs and Miss AlacKay (Wellington), Mr G.
