127,000 CHILDREN SERVED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 10.- ' It was officially stated to-day that the school dental sot-vice is now in operation in 376 centres throughout the Dominion, and nearly 127,000 children are receiving regular and systematic care at six-monthly periods. There has been a further drop in the ratio of extractions to fillings, the figures being 10.7 extractions to every 100 fillings, against 17.5 in 1935. The Minister of Health, Mr Nordmeyer, in a statement, emphasised the national importance of the service. It was essential, he said, that the flow of student dental nurses should be maintained to oope with the rapid expansion of clinic work. It was humanitarian work that should appeal strongly to young women of high ideals.
